At the beginning of the XVII century a stronghold was built on the ancient castle ruins of Arrigo the barbarous, its function was to guard Perugia’s valley. On the following centuries, on these ruins, was built the manor house of Castel Rigone and Pian di Marte. Later on this narrow and dark place, inaccessible at the assault of time, has been a prosperous farm where he grew fond of a room in particular. Nobles and Counts, on holidays in Umbria or just passing through it, used to stop there.

As time goes on, different administrations follow one another until a young farm manager (it’s about the year 1960) is entrusted with the direction of the manor, he has a proved experience at the Malta Knights’ Castle of Magione.

This man, named Aldo Pammelati, grows so fond on this place that, when the old owner decides to sell it, he organises the sale of the lands but keeps for himself the manor house which everybody call “La Fattoria”. Together with the active wife, Lidia Castellani, and later with the son and the daughter, Roberto and Gabriella, he transforms the farm into the Hotel and Restaurant that you see nowdays.

Fortunately nothing remains of the dark six rooms sharing one bathroom, but the atmosphere is still the same, it is modern and comfortable but, at the same time, it reminds us of those people who no one of us has met, even if after one night at Relais La Fattoria we feel closer
